How to be a first-time Vendor

Whether you’re selling home-bred fish, rare plants, shrimp colonies, or dry goods, becoming a vendor is a great way to support the community and offset your hobby costs. Here’s a few things to consider to get started.

Selling Plants, Fish, Shrimp and Snails that are reproducing in your tank is a great place to start. This will also make room for them to reproduce more!

Package your goods in 3 mil plastic bag specifically for fish. They can be easily tied off, rubber banded, or heat sealed.  Sandwich baggies are NOT recommended since they leak and can open easily and unexpectedly.

Having your critters bagged ahead of time makes transactions a lot smoother.

Fish can be safely bagged the night before with atleast 1/2 the volume of the bag being regular air, and enough CLEAN treated water to cover the fish completely.

Pricing your items in $5 increments requires less change and makes math quick. Regardless, plan on bringing small bills to make change.

Show up early and be set up before the doors open! Once your goods have been laid out for display, say hello to your fellow vendors or offer a hand. We are all a bunch of nerds that want to talk fish and lending a hand goes a long way to making the day much more enjoyable.

That's it!

It can be as simple as that. Once you have one Swap under your belt, you can expand your selection by trying a new breeding project and setting up a new tank.
